"Willemstan 1.2" represents the many reactionary changes made to the Willemstan Discord Server and the Willemstan Government as a whole, thanks to the overthrow of Sean's administration. With the previous administration disposed of, Eli Payton and the Construction Crew were free to implement policies and changes throughout Willemstan. The reforms began on June 16th and ended on June 18th. The goal of these reforms was to return Willemstan back to its original state, with some improvements in order to increase server activity and fix the election process.
Changes
The following is a complete list of the changes:
- Sean and Charlie were removed from power. Sean is no longer President of Willemstan.
- The Dictatorship was reinstated. Eli Payton became Dictator once again, the "President" title was suspended.
- All Discord bots were removed from the sever. This includes SuS.
- The text channel #t5ch-5upp0rt was removed.
- The text channel #willemspam was removed.
- The text channel #eyebleach was added.
- The states system was discarded along with the governor role.
- The Construction Group was founded.
- Admins were re-added to the sever in the form of "Admin V2s". Joey regained his admin status, and Ian & Malcolm were promoted to Admin V2 as well.
- The server name was changed to "The Cum Zone" and "Willemstan: The Sequel".
- The Willemstan Amendments were deemed "null and void".
- The "New Articles of Willemstan" were drafted and put into law, which converted Willemstan back into a dictatorship and overhauled the election process.
Reception by Members of Willemstan
In the initial months, the majority of the citizens of Willemstan were in favor of the reforms and supported the Willemstan Reactionaries. However, a small group known as the Willemstan Nationalists, lead by forcibly abdicated Sean Kavanagh and Charlie Nolan, were displeased with these changes and wished to continue their work on converting Willemstan into a Democracy. As a result, Willemstan was in a state of Civil War for a period of time.
Since then, Sean has publicly denounced his own reforms, and Charlie has admitted that they were planning on reverting to a version of the old election process. As a result, public opinion continued to favor the 1.2 Reforms for all of 2020 and beyond. There were no calls to reinstate the Willemstan 1.1 Reforms, and no real displeasure over Eli Payton's Season Dictatorship while it was in progress.
Post-Willemstan 1.2 Changes
Over the months following the reforms and the war, Eli Payton's administration continued to make minor changes to the server, often building upon the 1.2 Reforms. These included the addition of new text channels, a rise of server events, and ending the WE-PP mandate for elections. Overall, these changes were meant to be light improvements to Willemstan and boost activity.
Eli Payton Interview
This interview was conducted on November 30th of 2020, a day before the upcoming election. It was between Ian Hampton and Eli Payton and is unedited and all of the dialog are direct quotes.
Ian: Question #1: Back in your first interview, you said that you will not be running for the Winter 2020 Election. Do you still stand by this?
Eli: Yeah, if I said it before, I would be a liar, and we wouldn't want that.
Ian: Question #2: Did you accomplish everything you wanted to with the Willemstan 1.2 Reforms, as well as the rest of your Dictatorship?
Eli: I think so. At this point, I am running out of ideas and tried my best to return Willemstan to its original glory.
Ian: Fair enough, you seem to have accomplished what you set out to do.
Ian: Question #3: Who do you think will be running for Dictator this election, and why?
Eli: I defiantly think that both Sean and Joey will be running, I have some ideas on Devin S. or Malcolm, or even Ethan running, not 100% on those though. Sean and Joey will keep trying until they get what they want, and the other three might just do it for the meme tbh.
Ian: Of those, who do you think will uphold the Willemstan 1.2 Reforms? Do you think your reforms will face any serious challenge?
Eli: Joey will try to introduce new legislation and Sean would be the only threat on that list. I'm not too worried about the reforms as they are really just a frame for the others to rule, so I don't see them failing anytime soon.
Ian: Sean has pretty much disowned his later actions as Dictator, including the 1.1 reforms, do you think he would try something like that again?
Eli: It's possible, and there won't be much to stop him really. He did get a lot of backlash from his last issues, but that was mainly the trash heap himself, Dawson.
Ian: Final Question: What are you going to do after your reign is over? Are you hoping for an Admin V2 position? Will you retire from Willemstan politics again?
Eli: I will probably stay more involved again. I am hoping for an Admin role, yes (who wouldn't), and I will most likely run next election.
Ian: Cool. I look forward to seeing you run legitimately next time.
